Cold Shower After Waxing

Folk Song: La Vaca Mariposa and Moon Song

Thank [info] moiralaquesis (Adela, back in LJ), to give the appointment Oscar Wilde! Good luck in the new chamba. Turning

categories, we today a tiny sample of the folk song, one that has roots in my country and its people.

In Venezuela, musically speaking, we are a kaleidoscope that reflects the breed (English, African, Indian, Caribbean ..) local. The two pieces that bring in this issue reflect this spirit.

The first is Cow butterfly, original singer and composer Simon Diaz , famous internationally for its Caballo Viejo. Diaz has muuch beautiful melodies and colloquially known as "Uncle Simon." Appreciate the background the harp and maracas, own the Midwest (Plains region, full on grass and dedicated to agriculture and livestock).

If you read this TorreĆ³n travelers will remember that [info] zelha and myself did a little a cappella interpretation in the van's brother Victor, after returning to the hotel after lunch. Vaca was the Butterfly:

Butterfly Cow had a suit
A cute as a baby calf
"Give it to me daddy" kids say when they see birth
and she hides in the wooded hills that I had
Butterfly Cow a suit

II

The savannah offers greening
The gullies all bring flowers for the sunrise
and she hides the antlers do not know
The cow had a suit

Butterfly Coro

And parrots and hawks are also
fruit native to caney for him
And butterfly is not known to do
Because she knows the fate of he (Bis) III

Butterfly Cow had a suit
A cute as a baby calf
"Give it to me daddy" kids say when they see birth
and she hides the antlers do not know
The cow had a suit Mariposa

The second song great memories for me, I danced when I was in second grade of primary education (8 years). Since then I forgot, to find it again years later.

The moon, part of the group The vassals of the Sun, has influences from the drums of the central coast of Venezuela. It is a region where for many years produced large-scale cocoa (product, with the snuff, the main source of income for the colonial Venezuela). For this reason African slaves arrived, to whom, among other things, the current inhabitants of the coast inherited a large musicality (eg drum) and magic-religious elements, among other things.

When the moon rises ae
When I sing the roosters

give you my song my song will be a starry sky
I will give my song my song

a starry sky when
Negrito you will go my good

When the moon rises ae ...

I will give you the opportunity to fall

my arms I want to be with you to share success and failure (X2)

When the moon rises .. ae

Negrito, give me hope, my love
of calm and order n
comfort be with you I want to share dreams and wakefulness (x2)

When the moon rises .. ae
